One night the Bat fell. Grapple snapped, cape tangled. The doge didn't bark. He jumped. Caught the cape in his teeth and pulled. Batman looked down and said one word: “Partner.”
The Suit
No cape, because capes get caught. Black for the shadows. A blue wing across the chest so the city would know: this one flies on his own.
Leaving the Nest
Every great partner eventually goes solo. Gotham was too small, so Nightwing Doge leapt to a chain fast enough to keep up with him: NEAR. Cheap gas, quick finality, no bats required.
